Project Description

Overview

CaTs3 develops software used for structural-dynamic simulation and fatigue testing. We have been involved with CaTs3 Ltd in some capacity for almost 10 years. Principally we developed the main software framework which is in turn used by other programmers to build new extensions and software modules. Most importantly the framework allows for abstraction of intricate details (task scheduling, thread safety and design and standards conformation) by means of interface design, thus ensuring programmers code within the expected framework. This minimises risk and confusion and guarantees separation of concerns. This framework was used to implement test instruction modules (which includes a module to control and assist in analysing the results of the Bi-axial wheel test bench (ZWARP) and brake disc test (BSP) at IABG in Munich, Germany). To date over 150 program modules have been written using the architecture we developed and maintained. The software has to operate in a zero tolerance environment due to the nature of the software and clients of CaTs3 Ltd, which includes Boeing, Airbus, EADS, IABG, Toyota, Ford, Westland Helicopters and Eurocopter.
